FAQ

Ordering & Payment

How do I place an order?
Choose your item from the catalog, add it to your cart, and proceed to checkout. Enter your contact and shipping details, then select your payment method. You'll receive an order confirmation by email.

Can I ask for help choosing an item?
Yes. If you need help selecting a shade, size, or style, contact us — we're happy to help you find the right piece.

Will the color match exactly what I see in photos?
We do our best to represent colors accurately, but shades may vary slightly depending on your screen settings, lighting, and the natural character of the yarn. If the exact shade matters to you, message us before ordering.

What payment methods are accepted?
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, and others) via secure checkout, processed through Stripe. Depending on your device and browser, Apple Pay and Google Pay may also be available at checkout.

What if my payment doesn't go through?
Check your card details and available limit. If the issue continues, contact us and we'll help resolve it.

Shipping & Delivery

How is my order shipped, and how much does it cost?
Orders are shipped via different delivery company, depending on country, to addresses across Europe. Shipping cost is calculated at checkout based on your location and chosen delivery method.

How long does delivery take?
Delivery time depends on your country and shipping method — estimated timeframes are shown at checkout, and you'll receive tracking once your order ships.

Will I need to pay customs or import fees?
The price shown at checkout covers the item and shipping. Depending on your country's import regulations, local customs duties or VAT may be charged separately by the delivery carrier upon arrival — these are set by your country, not by us, so we're unable to predict the exact amount in advance.

What should I check when my order arrives?
Check that the packaging is intact and the contents match your order. If anything looks damaged or incorrect, contact us as soon as possible.

Returns & Exchanges

Can I return an item if it doesn't suit me?
Yes. If the item doesn't work for you — size, shade, style, or otherwise — you can request a return or exchange within 30 days of delivery.

Which items can be returned?
Items must be unused, in their original condition, with all tags, labels, and packaging intact. Items showing signs of wear, damage, stains, or odors cannot be accepted.

How do I start a return, and when will I get my refund?
Contact us by email with your order details, and we'll guide you through the process. Refunds are processed once the returned item is received and inspected; the time for funds to appear depends on your bank or payment provider.

Product & Care

What's the difference between a "pautinka" (lace shawl) and a warm down shawl?
A pautinka is a lighter, more delicate lace piece — often chosen for elegant looks, gifts, or moments when airiness matters most. A warm down shawl is denser, better suited for cold weather and everyday warmth.

How do I choose the right shawl?
Think about how you'll wear it: a pautinka suits a lighter, refined look; a dense down shawl is better for warmth. For gifting, classic shades and versatile sizes tend to work well. If you're unsure, message us.

How do I care for and store a down item?
Natural down needs gentle care — follow the label instructions and avoid harsh washing, high temperatures, heavy spinning, or improper storage. Store it somewhere dry, away from direct sunlight and moisture, without compressing it too tightly.

Is it normal for the item to become fluffier over time?
Yes — this is natural for genuine down. Over time, the fibers open up slightly, making the piece softer and more voluminous. It's a characteristic of the material, not a flaw.

Gifts & Authenticity

Can I order something as a gift, and is gift wrapping available?
Yes. Many ORENSHAL pieces make wonderful gifts, and gift packaging can be added at checkout where available. Tell us who you're shopping for, your budget, and the occasion — we'll help you choose.

How do I know I'm buying a genuine Orenburg down shawl?
Purchase only from our official store. ORENSHAL is built on the foundation of the Orenburg Down Shawl Factory — an enterprise directly tied to the authentic Orenburg down-knitting craft, and the registered holder of Russia's Appellation of Origin for "Orenburg Down Shawl," a legal designation confirming genuine regional origin.

Why can't a genuine Orenburg down shawl be very cheap?
The price reflects the natural material, the production process, yarn quality, skilled craftsmanship, and the preservation of a centuries-old tradition. A very low price is often a sign the item has no real connection to authentic Orenburg down-knitting.
